FAT 16 partition on a Dell

Thread needs solution

I'm about to restore a full backup, including OS, on a new internal hard drive, which is to be bootable when I'm done. My computer is a 6-year-old Dell running WinXP Home, SP3.

I've never partitioned my drive, but there's a FAT 16 partition that I understand is a recovery partition supplied by Dell. I've always backed it up along with everything else on the drive.

However, a friend who also uses Acronis and has restored to several hard drives says this Dell partition does not get restored.

Is that indeed the case? And if so, is there a way to include the partition in the restore?

Thank you!

Jo-Anne,

Is the Dell partition about 40 to 80 MB in size?

Is the partition at the start of the HD (as shown in Disk Management)?

Hello Jo-Anne,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ | Acronis True Image]]

Actually, this partition should be restored. Are you able to backup it? Is it seen in the program window?

Thank you.
