File Restore filenames munged?

I'm attempting a file restore of one of our file servers.

All the files are coming back with strange stuff pre-pended and the file extension changed.

For example, the file on my desktop that should be "Windows Media Player.lnk" is named "V0K758GP~Windows Media Player.lnk~".

What on earth is going on?

I should note, if I drill down into the backup file, the filenames appear to be correct.

Is this something that gets corrected as the restore progresses?

Yes, that was indeed the case. Once the backup completed, all the files were named correctly.

Something to be aware of! I was hoping to use the folders that had already been recovered while the rest was restoring, but that wasn't possible.
