General Installation Questions for Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Workstation

Thread needs solution

I have read the help linked within the setup wizard and browsed/searched the support site and tried to navigate the marketing info on the home page. No joy. Hoping someone can help with some very basic introductory installation information.

1. Where do I get the installation/configuration manual for the product?

2. I don't see a clear differentiation between "Advanced Workstation" installation and the various server versions of the product - is it all the same install, but just different licensing pertaining to what you can backup?

3. Where is the Ms-SQL requirements for the DBA? (I need the databases set up before I install, because apparently the setup wizard will ask for the SQL server info during installation.)

4. Is there a calculation that will allow me to estimate the size of the SQL databases and storage node for backups? How much compression and deduplication can I expect? How do I know if I have deduplication included in my license?

5. Can I install the mangement console, storage node, and license server on the same Windows OS server?

6. The installation wizard seems to indicate several local users are created to run the services required. Other than "Run as a service", what are the specific security requirements (which shares, NTFS permissions, etc.)? Can these services just use the LOCAL SYSTEM built in user?

2) It's the same binary, but when installing on desktop OS it will request desktop serial keys from the license server, and in order to install on server OS or on linux (that is always counted as server) it needs server serial keys on license server. Other features are the same.

4a) from user guide - The size of the deduplication database is about one percent of the total size of archives in the vault. In other words, each terabyte of new (non-duplicate) data adds about 10 GB to the database. 4b) - depends on your data (compression is gzip), and how much similar data (50 identical windows installations with little user data must deduplicate good) 4c) if you add the license to the license server, it (its console) will display license summary (e.g. A B&R 10 AS Deduplication ) and number of licenses.
5) Yes.
6) Services that run under created users may run under existing user you specify ( e.g. domain user, not local) but they can't run under LOCAL SYSTEM. Also http://kb.acronis.com/content/4459
