How do I Automatically Convert an ABR Entire Archive to VM?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

i have an Archive backup wich is constantly evolving (autoconsolidate, incremental, differential and so on).

I need to schedule an automatic Convertion to a VM (say at the end of the week), to the latest backup in the archive.

But i cannot convert an entire archive (and all the backups in it) to a VM, but only a single backup.

Because it would have to be scheduled i don't know how many backups will be in the archive and if the backup i schedule to convert will be there when the conversion start.

So how do i convert an entire archive?

Thanks

Hello Tlen!

Thank you for your question! I'll be glad to shed the light onto the situation.

There's nothing to worry about:

conversion is performed for the entire backup, i.e. for the entire timestamp. The chain "Full + incremental + incremental" is actually one backup.

So all you need is just choose the archive you'd like to convert, and hit "Proceed".

It's up to you to decide how to schedule the conversion, but we would suggest you to create 2 tasks: one convert task for everyday, and second one with autoconvertion in the options (don't forget to make sure it doesn't store many backups).

Please, let me know in case anything's confusing you, I will gladly clarify!

Thank you!

Yana, looking in the personal vault, left clicking on the archive whitout opening it with the "+", the button "Convert To VM" is greyed out.
If you click on + and choose one of the content, be full incre or diff, the button is selectable.

This means (and is useful sometime) that i can choose wich point in time to create the virtual disk from the backup, but normally it's needed to convert the entire backups, up to the latest, so it's normally to think to select "Archive" and then "Convert" to convert everything inside it (that is the latest restore point) in a virtual disk.

Now this can't be done, so for this i've added in the whishlist.
