How does the Acronis Management Server identify and keep track of the client?

MMS (Managed Machine Service, which gets installed when you install the Agent onto the machine) generates special instance configuration file for each machine, which contains a number of machine parameters, including IP, machine name and GUID. When the machine is added to the AMS, AMS refers to this file, thus even in case the machine receives another IP, AMS will still be able to find the machine by this instance configuration file.

This provides more flexibility to the product functionality and makes it more stable.

Thanks for your reply, it is good to know that the machine is identified by multiple methods. A followup question then. If a machine gets a new IP address, how does the AMS locate it? Since at the time, the IP address in the file that AMS looks at is the old address? Does the machine have to be readded to AMS using the new IP address? Or does this somehow happen automatically with the client notifying AMS of the new IP?
