Jet database problems
Hello,
We are having a lot of problems recovering backups for one of our customers, who uses Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Virtual Edition.
The customer is using HyperV to run virtual machines, however it is the backup of the host machine we seem to be having most problems with since it is a domain controller.
We have tried using VSS, not using VSS, and just about every other option for the backups but the end result is the same - the restored server firstly complains that the log files for NTDS.dit do not match the filesystem sector size (fsutil reports the filesystem sector size is identical on both the source and restored servers), and we then have to do an Active Directory Restore mode recovery on the database to get the system to boot.
Once booted the event logs report similar issues for practically every Jet based database on the server, include WUS, and the security database.
How can we resolve this since it makes the backup (and bare metal recovery) useless.
p.s - one of my colleages contacted Acronis aswell as Microsoft about this issue - Acronis stated it was a Microsoft issue and that we need to take it up with them, and Microsoft say it is a problem with the backup software and need to take it up with Acronis, none of which is going down well with our customer.
