Old W2K PC and Universal Restore

Thread needs solution

Hi,

We have a couple of old W2K pc's and want to upgrade them to new hardware.
Would universal restore work for this?

Problem is that I can't find w2k drivers for our new PC hardware.

Kind Regards and thank,

Andy

Hi Andy

Unfortunately if Windows 2000 does not support your hardware (eg, no device drivers) you are more than likely going to run into issues when trying to boot the system. What some customers have done when older systems are critical is running a later OS such as Windows 7 but then restoring there old system into a virtual environment as you can still have full access to your old system and applications this way.

You can always try the restore of your W2K system the most important drivers to get the system up and running is the HDD controller drivers so if you can find that you should be able to at least get the system bootable then work on any other drivers you might require.
