One-Click Recovery portability

Thread needs solution

When I do backup of HP server in Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 and recover it to another physical HP server (same model and same disk size as the original one) it works perfectly fine.

When I do same backup to DVD and place OneClickRestore on it and take it to another server and try to recover it through OneClick it says "Can not recover to its original state". If I use this OneClickRecovery DVD to the computer where I have created it, it works.

So both servers are totally same (ïmagine to take two identical servers form HP production line) but OneClickRestore DVD is not transferable from one to another one.

Does it check some hardware SN numbers or something?

Thanks

Hello Adam,

Thank you for posting. I will certainly take care of this problem for you.

It can be caused by either a known issue in our software or the other physical server has a slightly different hard drive. One-click restore does not check hardware serial numbers.

I would really appreciate if you can get back to me with this report taken from both, source and target machines. In case you need immediate assistance, you can always contact our Support team with the same reports.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Hello Adam,

Thank you very much for the follow-up.

I have verified this information with our Devs and according to them this is normal behavior. Acronis one-click restore is limited to restoring to the original location. This means, that when booting from the media and after clicking recover, all data will be silently recovered to its initial place.

Unfortunately our documentation does not reflect this limitation and I will follow-up with their Management team to have this corrected. If you require this feature you can always submit your feedback from this link.

You can always perform regular restores to any type of different hardware. Please check this link for more information.

If you need additional help, please let me know.

Thank you.
