Problem with Centralized vaults - can not validate (access denied)

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have new installation of the latest version (#17318). When I add the storage node and create the first vault there is no trouble. Everything looks good. But then I try add this vault as a backup location a "access denied" dialog comes up.

If I put an non existing users credential there it just pops up a new dialog. If I put the servers administration account there (and in this case its the doman admin account and every service is also running with the doman admin account for test purposes) it just hangs in a dialog saying: Operation Progress - Checking vault...

This dialog never disapears and when you finally cancel this operation you have to restart the storage node-service to get access to the Central vault again - or at least get it to show how much free space the vault has (you can't accually do anything with the vault)

The same problem occurs if you remove the storage node and then creates a new storage node (no problem), add a vault (no problem) and then choose to validate the vault (= same problem as described above)

Any suggestions?

the same happens to me

Just in case someone comes across this. I had the identical problem that I believe is due to using the storage node with a remote vault. If the user name and password for the remote vault are not the same as the username and password used for the Storage Node, i was unable to use the vault for a backup plan or validate the vault even though it appeared to install correctly when initially added. By setting up an identical username and password for the remote storage, it was able to get the vault to validate. It doesn't matter if you are using a domain account for the storage node, a basic account with the same user name and password will work. When attempting to validate you will initially get the access denied message but using the username and password (without a domain or machine name specified before the username) will allow it to work.

Don't know if this is the exact same issue as the previous post, but it did work for me.

Hello Gordon,

thank you for using Acronis Software.

During Setup, the Acronis_ASN_User is created and this user is starting the Acronis Storage Node.  For centralized managed vaults, I suggest every time to use the domain admin. Please remember, that the credentials are used from the Machine, where the Acronis Storage Node is installed and not from the Machine, where the Acronis Management Server runs.

So, ensure, that from the Acronis Storage Node Machine, the real storage of the vault is accessible. At the best, all components and storage locations are inside a domain and you use for all centralized backup plans the domain admin account. More Informations about Permissions, you will find here.

Also check, if you are using the latest build. How to download, you will find here.

The Web Help, you find here.

If there is anything else, we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.
