Problem trying to reduce size of managed vault

We have BAR 10 advanced (Update 5 - Build 10.0.13762) product configured with one central backup server running AMS, with dedicated disk storage holding the managed dedupe centralised vault. I initially had the backup policies (2 of) configured with a retention policy configured to "Keep archive size within:" set to '600GB', and "Apply retention rules:" set to 'Before Backup'. I have now amended this on both policies to 550GB, but after subsequent backup runs, I do not see the size of the vault reduced below 600GB.

I need to get the size taken on disk reduced to prevent disk space alerting.

Anyone have any ideas?

IIRC archive size in retention rules is calculated per archive per machine. So if you have 2 machines backing up to [machinename]_archive_name , you will have two archives each less than 600 GB , totally 1.2 Tb. At least it is so for vault without deduplication as well for unmanaged. I have no idea how occupuied space is calculated for deduplicated vault.
