Recover to baremetal dissimilar hardware

Thread needs solution

Hello,
I have the Acronis SBS edition and I made a full backup but when I boot the new hardware with the BootCD, and try to restore, it doesn't want to load...and even though the restore goes through, it won't let me boot.

I am thinking I did something wrong...

Can anyone direct me to the steps I need to take to backup/image the computer and restore it to a baremetal dissimilar hardware?

Thank you in advance!

Hello Jason,

Thank you for posting. I will definitely help you with this issue.

The most important thing to have in this situation is mass storage drivers for your new hardware. You will need to specify them during the recovery process. I would really appreciate if you could check the following KB article that has a detailed step-by-step guide and in case you are still having difficulties you can always contact our Support team directly.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

I have ABR10_Advanced Server SBS with UR Build 13544. Made a full back-up and then restore to a disimilar hardware/server. No erros were encountered during restoration. The OS booted normally until it reached log-on screen. I log using my normal log in account after that a message/window appeared. ("Windows Product Activation" This copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can continue. You can not log on until you activate Windows. Do you want to activate Windows now?" ) ............... is this something to do with Microsoft Licensing or i missed some settings during backup/restoration?

It's a licensing, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Product_Activation Note that if you activate this one, the old one will be considered de-licensed, so don't activate if it was a test restore.
