[RESOLVED] Unsupported Operating System
Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Advanced Workstation Bundle with Universal Restore
I was installing this to a Windows XP Home Edition. I could not connect remotely to it. Authentication error. After prodding around on forum and manuals, I came across this. Can someone verify this for the 11.0 version. I'm sure it's the same as 11.5. I see that it does not support Windows XP Home Edition. This really puts a damper on my plans and thus the reason why I bought the advanced. Let alone licenses. I had taken for granted that it supported Windows XP Home Edition just as True Image Home has done.
Now It installs just fine and able to perform backups without any issues. The only problem I am having is connecting remotely. No problem remotely managing a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. The Windows XP home is set up with a password. So kinda lost as to why I am getting an Authentication error.
Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated :)

I did try that however it still didn't want to jive with the authentication. I have about 15 of these Windows XP home editions on site.
No real since in upgrading them to professional since they usually just run this proprietary software and word and excel.
Some are quite old as well so was thinking that since I can't do the remote connection with them, may as well just use True Image home on them which would probably decrease the amount of processes and memory involved in what it takes to run Workstation. Some of them are pretty old and limited memory as well. All of which ran Home Image before I replaced with Workstation.
I probably should have just left home image on them. But was rather sucked in with the "remote connection" of which can't be used anyhow.
On a side note, I have a third party remote connection for the actual computers so not so bad to just log into them and do the settings for backup.

It possible, see attach. Two key points - 1) add machine to AMS from the agent side, in 'machine option'; 2) - connect to using 'connect directly' context menu item from 'all machines' list on AMS, not 'manage a remote machine'

Very nice indeed. This looks very promising. I'm pretty new to the Acronis so having some difficulty getting to the screen you are showing in the picture.
I am using Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Advanced Workstation Bundle with Universal Restore. I have drop downs mostly everywhere I see. I am trying to find the "connect directly". Any idea where that is for me?

In advanced edition there is a component named Acronis Management Server. After you install it on some machine, choose 'connect to a management server' on the start page of console, and navigate to 'machines with agents' in the navigation tree. There will be listed machines registered in the management server, like on the screenshot I posted.
