Restore fail

Thread needs solution

I'm using the trial version of Acronis TrueImage Home 2010. I created a bootable rescue media CD, created a sector-by-sector copy of my entire hard drive and had it backed up to an external hard drive. The minute I needed that backup copy, I plugged in my external, popped the CD in, and went to restore. When i clicked "My disks" to backup the entire disk, the minute I hit browse, it loaded for a second and then rebooted my whole system..

This problem keeps happening, anyone know of a way to fix this or experienced this before?

Also, the system is dual booting 2 Linux OS, I'm not sure if that has anyhting to do with it, but it didn't even let me choose the backup, it just rebooted when i selected browse

Hello Alton,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help. Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

The issue needs a closer investigation. But first of all, I would recommend you to try ISOLINUX Bootable Media.

There are two types of Acronis Bootable Media:
- Acronis Bootable Media that you can generate in your Acronis product. This type of media is based on Acronis Loader;
- Acronis Bootable Media that you can download from your account on the Acronis website. This type of media is based on ISOLINUX.
ISOLINUX Bootable Media is usually more up to date than the Acronis Loader one. This is due to the fact a new version of Acronis Bootable Media is uploaded to the web site more frequently than regular product updates are released.
Since ISOLINUX Bootable Media is unavailable for the trial versions (probably, this option will be added in the future), I am sending the file to you via PMs. Please create a new CD and  see if the issue persists.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.
