Restore Outlook 2007 email in Win 7

Thread needs solution

I have just upgraded my OS from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. Before doing this I backed up my Outlook email using Acronis True Image 2009. I also backed up all my files. I have tried to restore my email but it doesn't show up in Outlook, and I can't find a .pst file on my hard disk. What am I missing, and how can I get Outlook to find my old e-mails?

If you made a clean Win 7 install, you will need to import the pst. Restore the pst from your backup somewhere to your HD or mount the backup image and locate the pst. Tzhen import it into your outlook.

Hello,
Is it possible to burn an image of C drive to DVD's and make them bootable too without having to use a separate Acronis Bootable disc to restore image? This would help greatly if there's only one CD/DVD drive and the image is on DVD's. ATIH 2010 is the version.
Thank you and I appreciate your help.

No, it's not possible to boot a "normal" windows installation from a read-only media. It's simply because windows always writes to the boot disk (exception Windows PE)

Perhaps I did not make myself clear, my apology.
Say I have my partition C drive/Windows backed up or imaged on DVDs by using Acronis. Now my computer OS is dead or not bootable. In order for me to restore the C drive/Windows image saved on DVD's, I would need a bootable Acronis CD (the one that we suppose to create after installing Acronis.) So the bootable Acronis CD would use one CD Drive and in order to browse to the C drive/Windows.tib saved on DVD's, I would need another DVD drive to retrieve the image and restore it to C drive.
If the image.tib was saved on external hard drive that would not be a problem because I would need only one CD drive for the bootable Acronis disc.
In the past, I was able to to image C drive/Windows on to DVD's and made it bootable with some old Ghost version. Another word, when Ghost creates the image, it also copies the Ghost files to the first DVD and makes it bootable. Somehow I could not repeat that procedure with Ghost anymore, besides the old version does not work with SATA hdd.
I also had tried by copying the saved image.tib on external hdd and the files from bootable Acronis CD on to a DVD but it did not work.
I apologize for my limited English.
Thank you again for your help.

But you can remove the bootable acronis CD from the drive anytime after you started the management console.
You can also create your own bootable media with Windows PE and Acronis components on it. there is a description available from Acronis how to do this

Concerning the reply from Johann Kismann posted 12/26/09, how would I find the pst file in the backup, since the backup file is not searchable? I am even unable to find the pst file for the Outlook files I am using now. I tried searching for .pst and got nothing. I tried pst (without the dot) and got files containing PST (for Pacific Standard Time).

It is true also with old Ghost version that you can remove the disc once the management console loaded!
I never thought of that with Acronis. I will check into Windows PE/Acronis.
Thank you Johann very much for your help and suggestion.

C:\Users\User7\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst
Regarding Glen's search for pst. Have you tried the similar path above in the folder of the old OS? There should be a folder contains old OS when upgrading not a clean install. The path above just to give you some idea but you'll need to check the round button "Show hidden files, folders and drives" and also three square buttons right below might need unchecked too to see the archive.pst!
In the old Windows 2000, in order to search for hidden files, "Show hidden..." has to be enabled before searching, otherwise those hidden files & folders would not show up during the search.
I don't know if this a case with Win 7 Pro but a search for .pst was successful for Win 7 Ultimate following "Show hidden.." button checked; and 3 square buttons below unchecked when I tried.
