Slow Downloads? Updates are so big?

Thread needs solution

It seems strange that a full update requires 806MBs, but is capped at about 1Mbps (134KB/sec for me) download. That is about 100 minutes for a download.

I could use the web installer, but it still seems strange. A new user wouldn't know all the right components to download and it would still take a while. Nothing is more fun than running through the the re-download gauntlet.

No, it is not my internet speed, I have easily cleared 30Mbps downloads from different webservers, as we have a 1000Mbps link.

Yes, I realize acronis might not have as much bandwidth with their colocation facility, but you would think it would be a nicety to either try to make the files smaller or increase the bandwidth to faciliate, especially if patching to the latest version is the de-facto prescribed solution.

No, I don't buy the "it is because everyone is downloading the latest version." I don't recall it being much faster when there were no new releases and I was trying out 11345.

It seems particularly frustrating to have to wait nearly an hour and a half and HOPE the new update will fix an immediate issue.

Hello Carroll Kong,

Thank you very much for your feedback.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience, this is caused by a lot of users downloading the latest build of our software.

I have checked with our Web team and this issue will be resolved very soon.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

For the french servers (I don't know if they are global), download speed is limited to 128 Kb/s ... so downloading the update takes up to 1,5 hour.

another option that would be awesome is if you could point the webinstaller to a proxy. and have it localy cache the download files. would be a timesaver for large installations. (or point the webinstaller to a share where it could find the files) instead of downloading them again and again.

I do know that you can download the installer files and carry them with you, but then you loose the possibility to use the webinstaller to upgrade your installations.
