Hi,

The proper way is to use for example Acronis Backup for VMware: install the product as virtual appliance or Windows Agent, connect to its web console, then run Recover VM wizard, browse to the .tib archive you have and complete the recovery.

Note that VMware vCenter Converter is not compatible with the latest versions of TIB files, so for recovery you need to use an Acronis product.

Thank you.

Hello. thank you very much for your attention and help. I have tried in various ways and is not working. I am using the Acronis Backup for VMWare agent (build 9.2.1). deal with the option of -recovery Entire VM and Files and Folders, do not give me the option to select Recovery Point: dealing with the TIB and VMDK extensions, I have not any result. Could you explain how you can do.
Thanks

Hi!

Can you please clarify how the backup (TIB) was originally created? The backups created by other Acronis products are considered by Acronis Backup for VMware as backups of physical machines and in the middle section of the recovery wizard you should see corresponding icon. See attached screen shot showing how such backups should be seen.

Thank you.

Hi,

According to the screen shots the TIB file is not recognized by Acronis Backup for VMware as a valid archive and therefore doesn't show any options, so the question remains: how (which product/version was used) this archive was created originally?

Thank you.

Hi,

I'm afraid that this would be practically the only format of the archive which cannot be restored by Acronis Backup for VMware. The Hyper-V VM backup created by Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5 for Hyper-V contains a lot of Hyper-V specific metadata inside it and this metadata cannot be parsed by Acronis Backup for VMware. The solution in your case would be the following:

1) Create a bootable media with Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5 product inside (edition doesn't matter)
2) Create a blank empty VM on vSphere ESXi host where you plan to restore the archive. Remember to create virtual disks of sufficient size to fit the data from the archive.
3) Boot the created VM from the bootable media created at step 1
4) Run Recovery wizard and perform the restore operation.

P.S. I'll send you a link to .iso image of Acronis backup Advanced 11.5 shortly in a private message. You can use this .iso to boot the VM from in order to perform recovery.

Thank you.
