How do I vMotion vmProtect appliance to new datastore?

Thread needs solution

I would like to vMotion the acronis vmprotect virtual appliance to another nfs datastore accessable by all my vmware hosts. When I try to do this I get these messages in the compatibility field at the bottom and it prevents me from clicking Next to complete the migration.

(!) fault.SystemError.summary
(!) fault.SystemError.summary
(!) fault.SystemError.summary
(!) fault.SystemError.summary
(!) fault.SystemError.summary
(!) fault.DisallowedMigrationDeviceAttached.summary
(!) fault.DisallowedMigrationDeviceAttached.summary

This is VMWare ESX 4.1 / vSphere 4.1

Any idea?

You know whats weird is in Datastores view it shows AcronisAppliance running on this datastore.

However if I browse the datastore it is NOT residing at this location at all. Its actually in another datastore, and vSphere client does show it under that data store.

Also in vSphere client I get "Invalid cast from 'System.String' to 'Vmomi.Vm.Device.VirtualDeviceArray'. when I click on the two datastores in datastore view.

This was caused because Acronis vmProtect sometimes holds other vm disks hostage. The other vm disks were attached as hard disk 3 through 7 and they were pointed to snapshot disks for a virtual machine that was on this datastore. Once removing these disks from vmProtect, it was no longer listed under this datastore.

Hi,

The issue described by KJSTech was present in vmProtect 7 until the 2nd update where there was not corret method used to read data from the backed up VMs which sometimes resulted in unwanted virtual disks attached to appliance even after backup is finished. These problems are no longer present since vmProtect 8.

Thank you.
