Online strategy

Thread needs solution

Using VMProtect in disk 2 disk scenario at the moment, and pushing the archive to tape with a separate program.

I got an online subscription as well, but wonder about the initial seeding that would be about 300 gb. Ran a small test of 10 gb and that took about 4 hours over 30/50 FIOS line. Not sure if that could be faster via settings. If not, then 30*4=120 hrs or say a week.

If I set a task to do an online backup, can I let that run for a week and SIMULTANEOUSLY (well at night anyway) make the usual disk to disk backup? Or will vmProtect get befuddled by that backing up the same data in 2 directions at once? If so, what exactly is the intent of this software? I actually could use other software instead for a week, to make sure I am getting things backed up, but... I am guessing that is not the intent (user guide: "Be sure to use Backup Exec instead for awhile... ")

If there is an faq with this, I would appreciate the link.

Hi Matt!

vmProtect can run several tasks in parallel, even if the backup the same machine (thanks to amazing implementation of CBT). This means that your scenario should work: while backup to online is in progress another task can perform a backup of the same machine to a disk.
