Replicate Acronis backups to another location

Thread needs solution

This could be a part feature request, but in the mean time i need to solve this problem

I want my backups on two locations, and yes you can run two backup jobs, but on my infro this takes too much performance and time to make full backups and Validate them for hours within the backup window

during the backups i see now the lock files
xxxxxxxxx-1xxx-xxxC-xxxx-1Exxxxxxxxxxx2.lck
xxxxxxxxx-1xxx-xxxC-xxxx-1Exxxxxxxxxxx2_backup.lck
in my scripts i want to check for these lck files and if they do not exist with the correct backup / script id
then i would like to start rsync or an zfs send , zfs recv but then i need to lock it also by creating these lck files and remove them again if my sync is complete

could i create these lockfiles without a problem and are there more know statusses as _backup.. like _restore?

purhaps an status with validate would be nice too ;) as i see this is not the case.

in this way we could safely replicate the backups and also know when they are complete or not.
a method to do this from the applicatioj would be perfect, it would be like a replicate vm but them between cifs or local storage

Hello Jan,

Thank you for using Acronis Software.

I have forwarded your feature request to our management team.

In Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 you can use the replication feature. See more information in Online Help.

In Acronis vmProtect 7 you can use the replication task to do that. See more information in Online Help.

Let me know if you need additional help please.

Thank you.

but is the replication not of the VM to a datastore?

i read:
Replication – Acronis vmProtect 7 now includes both backup and incremental near-continuous replication to a stand-by virtual machine.

this 1 backup job for a vm to backup and 1 backup job to replicate to another datastore.

but what i want is the complete TIB file that is completed on the backup including validation to replicated to another SMB share..

Hello Jan,

thank you for your reply.

See in this page of our Online Help, the definition of replication in Acronis vmProtect 7:

Replication

A process of replicating the virtual machine to new location (new datastore and/or resource pool). As the result of this process there will be a duplicate virtual machine created which is running independently from the original one.

This of course does not copy the TIB file to anther destination, as you want. If you want to copy the complete TIB file, I suggest to define a fixed time, in front of the running backup plan start time. So you can ensure, that the previous backup plan is complete.

If there is anything else, we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.

yes but i want to utilize the .lck files..

- monitor the .lck files
- when released.. make sure iin a timeframe its all ok
- monitor the .lck files again
- start the replication with rsync
- PLACE my own .lck files so acronis cannot start backup
- remove the .lck files when done

Hello Jan,

Thank you for your reply.

The .lck files temporally created during the Backup process. Please remember that there is no guarantee, that Acronis True Image Home does not start the next backup operation, while .lck files exists.

You can use this ways to solve your question:

 • Instead of trying to monitor the .lck files, you can use the post-command in your backup options to start the copy to your second destination.
 • Alternatively, you can use the feature of making reserve copies of your backups. Find the way to do it in the Online Help.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Dual Destination feature is being implemented in Acronis vmProtect 8. The beta version is already available at http://www.acronis.com/vmprotectbeta.
Feel free to test it.
