vmProtect 8 Invalid URI when copying backup to separate server

Thread needs solution

Hello.
I am running Acronis vmProtect 8.0 Agent (build 8.0.8184). I have a backup server that is not part of my domain. I setup my daily backup task to copy the backup file to this server using path \\WinBKUP\Offsite. Authentication works fine. I see files being created in the directory but then are removed.

The copy task fails with the following errors:

Task 'Daily Backup Dual Destination' failed: 'Failed to replicate backups.
Additional info:
--------------------
Error code: 11
Module: 435

The backup task saves all backups in one file, and has been running successfully for several weeks. It has just been a few days since I modified the task to include the secondary location.

Any insight on this problem would be helpful. Is it possible that since there is no existing archive at that location, the task cannot collect information to add the backup data? So I would need to have a newly created archive?

I have searched for this specific error on the site and only found similar errors related to Acronis Backup & Recovery.

Hi Micah,

The "Invalid URI" error typically means that the path recorded in the task properties is malformed or cannot resolve the path properly when the task is being executed. Can you please edit the backup task and specify the 2nd destination using IP address instead of hostname? The archive will be created automatically if it is missing upon first task execution attempt.

Thank you.

I did that too. As I said, I see files being created at the target destination but then being removed and the task errors..

Hi Micah,

In this case the issue might be related to the specifics of the network share. I'd recommended contacting Acronis support so that they can help. Most likely they'll need a remote assistance session in order to figure out what's going wrong and localize the issue (like trying creating a new backup task with 2nd destination option from scratch, trying a different network share or locally attached storage - this would let us determine whether the issue is related to the task specifics or to environment).

Thank you.
