Acronis + Nutanix

Thread needs solution

Hi,

are there any plans about integration of Acronis with Nutanix hypervisor (AHV)?

Thanks

Hi,

Yes, this functionality is in our mid-term plans (internal ID: ABR-129153) - likely we'll start working on it during the next year, though there are no exact plans for it yet.

Thank you.

Hi,

In the most recent Acronis Backup 12.5 Update 3.2 we have added agent-based support for VMs running on Nutanix AHV hypervisor - backup can be done just like for any regular Windows/Linux machine (via agent inside) and recovery can be done via bootable media. These scenarios have been specifically tested in our QA lab.

Also backup agents running inside VMs on Nutanix AHV support advanced licensing consumption scheme, where a single Acronis Backup 12.5 Advanced Virtual Host license is sufficient to cover any number of agents running inside VMs on the host. The concept is very similar to "Free ESXi" support: see https://kb.acronis.com/node/60598/ which is also applicable to Nutanix AHV.

What concerns agent-less support for Nutanix AHV (if Nutanix is running using VMware or Hyper-V hypervisors then you can already back it up via Acronis Backup 12.5), it is still on planning stage and I can't share a ETA at the moment.

Thank you.

Are there any updates regarding integration of Acronis within AHV?

We would like to start recovering Acronis backups as VMs in AHV. Is this a possibility already?

Thank you very much!

Hello No No.

Support for Nutanix AHV virtual machines has been added in Update 3.2: these VMs can be backed up by installation the respective Agent for Windows/Linux on the machine that will be backed up.

There is a possibility to restore a backup with AUR on a AHV VM as to a dissimilar hardware following these instructions https://kb.acronis.com/content/35681

Hi,

What concerns agentless support for Nutanix AHV with ability to recover backups directly as VMs on Nutanix (w/o using bootable media in pre-created VMs), it is preliminary planned for 2021 with no final commitment yet. This feature is pretty high in our priorities so the chances for making it happen are quite high.

Thank you.

Thank you both for your answers. This is becoming a real need for us because the ability to restore using bootable media in AHV is not efficient, its slow and gives problems.

It would be awesome to have the same level of integration in AHV as there is in ESXi

I hope this gets introduced soon.
