Backup Office 365 to Azure

Thread needs solution

I'm studying adopting Acronis for backing up our corporate Office 365. Our questions are:

  1. is it possible to use an Azure Storage as the backup repository for Acronis Backup Office 365? If positive, which types of Azure Storage are supported? Azure BLOB? Azure files?
  2. is it possible to use an on premise SAN as the backup repository for Acronis Backup Office 365? in that case it implies a local backup server HW (currently we don't have any on-prem server)?
  3. Is it possible to get on-prem copies of the Acronis Cloud Storage backup data?

Thanks

Luis

Hello Luis,

thank you for posting on Acronis forums!

It depends on whether you use cloud deployment or on-premise Management Console.

Thus, if you use Acronis Agent for Office 365 which is locally installed on a Windows machine (on-premise deployment), then you can select any backup destination: backup location on SAN or Microsoft Azure as solutions using S3 with the older AuthV2-compatible authentication methods (for more details please consult https://dl.acronis.com/u/software-defined/html/AcronisCyberInfrastructure_3_users_guide_en-US/index.html and https://dl.acronis.com/u/software-defined/html/AcronisCyberInfrastructure_3_staas_integration_guide_en-US/index.html)

In case you use a cloud-based Agent for Office 365, then you can back up to Acronis Cloud Storage only.

Is it possible to get on-prem copies of the Acronis Cloud Storage backup data?

If you already have backups stored on Acronis Cloud Storage which you want to move to physical locations, please try Export backups or create a Replication plan (available for Advanced licenses).

.

Thanks Maria

Can you confirm me whether the on-prem deployment for Acronis Backup Office 365 backups the same applications as the cloud deployment: Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, One Drive for Business?

I'm not familiar with Amazon Cloud Services and its terminology. I understood from the documentation you sent me, that Azure storage as backup repository could be implemented configuring it as for S3. Could you indicate me which types of Azure storage are supported in this way? Azure BLOBs? Azure Files? ...

Hello Luis.

It is supported any type of storage on Azure including Azure BLOBs with an S3-compatible configuration.

As for Azure Files, you can use it as a network shared folder.

Hello Luis.

Can you help me with the first question? -exchange Online, SharePoint Online, One Drive for Business support for on-prem deployment?

These applications could be backed up with Acronis Backup 12.5: Cloud deployment. Please consult the following KB article for more details: https://kb.acronis.com/content/62303
