Machine Unit
Hi,
We have a big Acronis environment separated between different sites managed by a unique AMS.
When we have problems adding a machine using the AMS we then try the register_agent_tool which normally works.
In the KB of the register tool you say:
- Optionally, you can define the organization unit where the machine should be registered by providing administrator credentials for this unit:
But what happens if an administrator administers more than one unit? What is the unit where this machine will be added? Is there any default?
Thank you!

Hi,
Bumping the thread in order to get an answer.
The simple answer would be that if you want to add a machine to a specific unit you should use the register tool executing the command with the credentials of an admin of that unit... But the goal of my question is to understand if there's a simpler way from the server itself to move machines between units when there's any kind of problem adding the machine from the AMS.
Thanks

Hi,
I'd recommend raising a support ticket to address your scenario, looks like it can't be implemented using the available tools. Please share the ticket number, so that we can also look into.
Thank you,

Hi Ekaterina,
the ticket has bbeen opened with number 03295984
Support already answered that there is no way to move machines between units from the AMS (Please, add it as a required feature for future releases).
The solution they provide is to remove the machine from the unit and add it to other unit... The problem comes when the machine cannot be added to the AMS directly through the AMS because it gives errors. The only way to add this machine to the AMS was with the register_tool as I've already commented, and this action adds the machine to the ORGANIZATION level...
We want to place the machine to the unit it belongs, not other. Can you provide any solution for this action?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I received another answer from support where they told me to try CTRL+SHIFT and then click ADD in the DEVICES section of the UNIT I want ot add the machine. Using this method allowed me to add the machine correctly.
This drives me to another question:
What is the difference between ADD-Workstation and CTRL+SHIFT+ADD when adding a machine to the AMS? If I use just the ADD it does not work, it gives error. But when I do the other method with the same machine it gets correctly added!
Thank you.

Here some news I've received from RnD
> No way to move machines between units from the AMS
Support of Cross units resources movement has been already considered by the product management (internal ID of the feature request ABR-121137). I've added your vote to the request
> What is the difference between ADD-Workstation and CTRL+SHIFT+ADD when adding a machine to the AMS?
So, CTRL+SHIFT+ADD should be used when adding a machine that already has an Agent installed -> registration only. If you need to add a device without Acronis components, use ADD button.

Hello Ekaterina,
are there any news regarding feature request ABR-121137? We are using build 16327 and there still seems to be no way to move the machines to another unit. Or at least I haven´t found it yet.
Thanks in advance and best regards
Andreas
