Strange Backup Behavior
Trying to back up my NVME RAID 0 'OS' drive, starts backing up fine, then roughly halfway through backing up the full 2.5TB, it throws up an error saying backup stopped, run check disk. Which I ran on the drive, along with the 2 other hidden partitions, no errors were found.
When I restart the backup, it runs at a considerably lower speed until a system restart, which seems to allow it to run full speed again. What is going on?
I am backing up over SMB using a 10GB Network. Two machines directly connected to each other.

Hello Paul!
Chkdsk might help sometimes but a CRC error is a good indicator that it's a failing disk. In all the cases I had this error (10+ times) it was later confirmed with some disk diagnostic programs that they were indeed faulty. We are relying on this error now to forecast when a drive is nearing its end. I have no idea why it slows down the second time or speeds up after a restart though.
I suggest you try to make a backup with acrocmd with the "--ignore_bad_sectors" switch first. If that fails try with "--raw". The backup with the raw option will be the same size as your drive.
I doubt other backup software can do much more with bad sectors other than maybe ignore them. If important data lies around those bad sectors its probably more in the realm of data rescue than data backup solutions.

I am running an array scan on my NAS that I have been attempting to back up too. Not sure how i can run a scan on my Samsung NVME RAID 0 drives, any idea?
I also checked the log for that last month on the NAS (RAID Software), there are no errors or bad sector errors. So if it's a problem, it must be with The RAID 0 OD NVME drives.

Hello Paul!
What RAID controller are you using? I expect the maker to have some utilities to manage it. I know Intel has some. Can't provide any concrete info though, as I rarelly have to manage RAID volumes.
I know both from articles and my own experience that predicting the health of an SSD drive is black magic. If you at least get some indication of error better replace it before it decides to stop working overnight. Especially since with RAID0 one drive failure is enough to lose the entire array.

I have an Asus ROG Rampage VI Apex X299. It states in the manual, 'Intel x299 Express Chipset with Intel Rapid Storage Technology 15 Support''. Not to worry, I already have the OS backed up from a couple of months back. I don't see any where in the BIOs that would let be run a check.

I ran a verification test on the NVME RAID drives, no errors found. So no errors or bad sectors found on either the NAS or OS i am trying to backup to that NAS.
I have no idea how to do this ''I suggest you try to make a backup with acrocmd with the "--ignore_bad_sectors" switch first. If that fails try with "--raw". The backup with the raw option will be the same size as your drive.''

Acronis has a command line utility that you can use when you can't find the functionality you want in the management console, or you want to integrate/automate tasks. Have a look here: https://dl.acronis.com/u/pdf/AcronisCyberBackup_12.5_cmdlineref_en-US.pdf (specifically for the options I suggested: 2.3.1.2 backup disk)

UPDATE..
So, i erased my RAID configuration, formatted both drives, put them back in a RAID 0 config, recovered my backup to the drives using Acronis, no more errors when backup up the volume.
I think my RAID array had become corrupted somehow, the drives themselves seem fine.

Hello Paul!
Interesting! Thanks for sharing the result.
