Backup task stalling at 49%

Thread needs solution

Hi,

For the last couple of days one of my backup tasks keeps stalling at 49%. It has been running fine for several months.

I left the task running overnight but no progress had been made at all.

I was unable to stop the task and could only do so by restarting the PC.

I've done a drive health and file error check on the source and destination drives and all are OK.

Ive tried recreating the task and the same thing happens.

I have other tasks which all run without any errors.

Any suggestions on how I can identify the reason why the task stalls.

Thanks very much.

B R

B R, the logs are the place where you need to be looking for why the backup is stalling / failing / hanging etc.

Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see if they show any issues during the operation process?

The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (New Version 2.7.5.1)

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant, i.e. Media Builder.

The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

Hello!

I have raised a ticket for the issue. The reference number is 06161559.

If the destination of the backups is the cloud (I see you have that in your subscription), please run the following tool: https://kb.acronis.com/content/47145. Make sure there aren't any errors in the output.

It could also be possible that there is an issue with some service, so perhaps fixing the installation or updating the agent can help.

You can expect a reply from our support as soon as possible.

Best regards.

Hi Steve

Apologies for the delay in responding.

Thanks very much for the info.

Im not very familiar with interpreting the logs however I managed to locate the relevant task based on the date and time in the Demon logs. There does not appear to be any info relating to errors. The log just seems to end abruptly with the last tib file created which is probably the point the backup stalled. No further info relating to errors.

I'm none the wiser.

Hopefully Acronis support may be able to get to the cause of the issue.
