Endless starting recovery ("Backup Inhalte werden geladen")
I have huge problems with ATI2021 and ATI2020.
I use both on different drives in my machine. Whenever I try to restore some Files ore Partitions ATI hangs in that moment, I select the recovery-tab. For a moment it appears the message "Backup-Inhalte werden geladen" (i.e. something like: "Backup Content is loading") and the task hangs. The only way to stop the task is by killing it with the task manager.
The backups themselves seem to be OK. A validation ends everytime successful. Older backups as well as new backups. But no recovery is possible. Everytime I try, the ATI is endless loading the backup content.
Nothing helps. I tried to deinstall ATI2021 and reinstall it. Nothing changes.
I use the Acronis cleanup-tool and reinstall ATI2021. Nothing changes.
Is there anyone who can help me?
I use ATI2021 with win11 pro and ATI2020 with win10 pro.
Thank you and with kind regards
Michael B.

Dear Steve,
I will try to anwer your questions point after point:
I always backup complete partitions or drives .
The backup type is usually .tib. But during my last attempts to solve the problem, sometimes ATI produces .tibx files.I don't know when the format changes and I don't know the reason why.
Usually I stored my backups on a special file-server. But sometimes, during some experiments with my OS, I store them on a USB-Drive or a partition of an other drive in my machine, due to increase the backup speed. Till december of the last year, I never had any problem with that. But now nothing works, no new backup and no old backup, where ever it is stored.
Your suggestion to open it directly in the windows file-explorer was very interesting. Just now I tried to open it. It was opened in less than a second! I never tried that before.
Weeks or months ago, I used to open backups regularly (within ATI), to restore a single file. That was done very quickly, I think less than 30 seconds, even if the backup was on the file-server.
To the size of the backups: Once in a month, I am backing up the complete machine. The size is about 200 GB. The method is ' user defined, complete'. In addition to that I make every week a differential backup with max. 3 versions. I never store more than 2 newest versions. The size differs between 2GB and 200GB.
I just tried to open an older Backup, done with ATI2016 (in 2021). That still works (at least on time). It resides on the file-server and has a size of 70 GB. The method was 'single full backup'. I clicked the 'recovery tab' and the content was shown within a few seconds.
I hope, I answered all your questions. :-)
With kind regards
Michael B.
PS
I apologize for my english. That's all I learned at school. Usually, I only speek german :-)

Michael, with the introduction of ATI 2020, 2021 and ACPHO - all new Disks & Partitions backups now create .tibx files by default and no longer use .tib files.
If you continue using a backup created by ATI 2019 or earlier, then .tib files are used for all backups even with ATI 2020, 2021...
The introduction of .tibx files brings with it many more limitations / restrictions due to increased use of metadata along with the internal Acronis database.
See the following KB documents published by Acronis with regards to .tibx files.
KB 63518: Acronis True Image 2020: do not delete first tibx file
KB 63227: Acronis True Image: Do not delete .TIB or .TIBX files outside of Acronis True Image

Provided that you follow the new rules for .tibx files (as above), which in essence means leaving these files untouched, not moving, copying or deleting any files using Explorer etc, then all should work just fine. It is also possible that Windows OS changes can be involved, i.e. the dropping of SMB 1.0 support for network connections.

Your backup size is not excessive at around 200GB but will be slower than if you made separate backups of your OS & applications (as 1 backup) and your data as another backup.

Michael, your use of english is far superior to my knowledge of german! I rely on using Google translate for all posts not written in english as I only have a very basic knowledge of french, spanish and german.

He Steve,
nevertheless my problem remains. I need to restore a system partition, but it is impossible. Mounting of the backup does not help.
Maybe the trouble starts, when I deleted backupfiles, which seemed to be corrupted. Is it possible to repair the internal database of ATI (if that is the reason for al my trouble)?
With kind regards
Michael B.

If you have deleted any .tibx files, especially the very small 12KB metadata file then, sorry, but that action will have caused the corruption.

Hi Steve,
do you have any idea, what I can do now?

Michael, I would suggest trying the restore when the PC is booted from Acronis rescue media - that removes the involvement of the internal database that is used for the Windows GUI application but doesn't affect the use of metadata by Acronis for the backups.
If you still see the files being reported as corrupt, then the only other thought is whether the files you deleted might still be able to be recovered using a recovery tool to try to bring them back?
