"Failed to run child process" when trying full backup

Tutorial

Hi, I am trying to do a full backup using the Acronis True image for Western Digital Version 2021 Build 39230.

Whenever I try to start the Backup it fails with Error "Failed to run child process". This happens on a full backup without any additional batch jobs or anything. I simply select Source, Target (external WD-HDD) and set it to Scheme "One Version".

The process works if I select a single folder (e.g. my User-Folder) as Backup Source.

How to fix this error? There is no more error info provided as "Failed to run child process".

Thomas, welcome to these public User Forums.

See KB 2201: Support for OEM Versions of Acronis Products which applies to all OEM versions of ATI supplied with hardware purchases.

The only time I have seen mention of a child process has been when a Pre or Post Command has been included with the backup task when configured?

To understand what this issue might be needs the logs that Acronis creates for each backup task.

Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see if they show any issues during the operation process?

The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (New Version 2.5.2)

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

Hey Steve, thank you for your reply. I already got in contact with Acronis on Twitter and they told me they won't  take care of the problem cause its the WD Version. I since have moved on to another backup solution so this thread can be closed. Thanks for your effort.
