Managed Machine Service Mini high CPU

Thread solved

On Windows 10, the Acronis Managed Machine Service Mini process runs constantly at around 14% CPU. Is that normal? Is there a way to throttle it back? Or is the process needed at all? Also, the Windows System process is very busy at a steady 19%. Advice will be appreciated. .. Stan

Stanley, welcome to these public User Forums.

The MMSM service should not be running at such a high rate and would be a cause of concern for me if I saw that happening!

This service communicates with the Acronis Dashboard servers and has been implicated in causing users to have their backup settings reset to default values, losing email notification and cleanup settings etc.   See forum topic: True Image 2020 -Backup option settings loss - where this has been reported in some detail!

Personally, as I don't use the Dashboard and having experienced the settings reset one time, I now make a point of setting this service to 'Manual' start in the services control panel and stopping it if it is running!

I go further by setting the service to Disabled.

Thank you - that helps. There is one point of confusion (terminology). When I launch Acronis from the Windows desktop, it opens the attached home screen. Is that the "Online Dashboard" referred to? My inclination is to disable MMSM entirely. But if the screen shown is in fact the online dashboard, I might be better off changing MMSM to Manual and then starting it before launching Acronis.

Stanley, the dashboard is a web page that opens in your web browser and can be accessed remotely from any PC.  There is a button on the ATI GUI > Account page which will take you to the dashboard.

Also, causing near 100% usage of my HDD, but not my two main boot and spare m.2 SSDs.

This is a new install of Win11, Acronis was just installed BUT not configured to run yet. I did NOT install their malware bloatware at that's even worse, I've found.

This is strange virus-like behavior running this for no reason. What the heck is it doing reading/writing that drive for hours on end?

E, see forum topic: Keep ACPHO backups localized only with no cloud storage access with reference to the MMSM background service for the Acronis Online Dashboard!

MMSM should not be reading/writing any drive for hours assuming that Acronis was installed using Administrator and has been whitelisted for any other installed security applications.
