MVP Assistant

Thread needs solution

Question about using MVP Assistant:
- I have created project
- I have mounted WinRE.wim
- I have selected the applications I want installed
- I have commited
- I have dismounted
- When using BUILD, it did sucessfully see the UBS 32GB Thumb Drive (D:)
- I have successfully installed to that 32GB Thumb Drive (D:)
- All good
- Removed that successfully installed thumb drive
- Installed USB WDD 300GB spinning drive (D:)
- Now I want to install same image to that USB WDD 300GB spinning drive (D:)
- Upon looking at SYSTEM CONFIGURATION, refreshing, I do see the USB WDD 300GB drive (D:)  as USB drive
- However upon going to BUILD, I do not see USB drive (D:), thus don't get the opprotunity to build an image to D:
- I am in E-Z Mode
- I have closed project, reopened, restarted MVP assistant, thinking maybe a reset was necessary
- Still can't see USB WDD 300GB drive, D: when going to BUILD
- It is formatted FAT32
- It does have a previous RESCUE disk partion written by Acronis Media Builder... Is that a problem ?
- Is it possible a project cannot be written to more than one drive, or written just once ?
- Wondering what I am missing ?

???

Dan, this may be a case of holding off on your actions for a couple of days!

My reason for saying the above is that Bruno (the author of the MVP Assistant) has been working with myself and another MVP (Bob - Enchantech) on a further update to the tool to allow more options for choosing rescue media drives that should meet your requirement here!

Bruno is making sure that any changes to the Assistant do not introduce any unwanted features before releasing a further version to the user community.

Thanks Steve for the update...
No hurry.
Just glad it wasn't necessairly an error on my part due to a lack of skill with MVP Assistant !

Dan,

We're working on it.  Part of the issue is how disks report themselves and how the Assistant looks for and displays disks.  For example, USB attached disks can report as Removable or SCSI.  Flash drives report as Removable.  In your case your USB HDD likely reports as SCSI so does not show up in the Build menu. :->

Thanks for update Ehchantech...

Which is probably a good explanation as to why it is so hard to try and prepare a USB/Thumb Drive for ejection reliably via either File Explorer, or as I try and use sometimes
rundll32 shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll.
Now days I just make sure I am not touching/viewing them via any tools prior to disconnect.

Anyway, no worries...
