Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office

Thread needs solution

Is this a minor update or a rename?
Is it possible to upgrade from the perpetual edition 2021?

Upgrade from any perpetual version is only possible if going the subscription route!

Unless you are lucky enough to live in one of the excluded territories (like Australia) - assuming that the cosmetic name change makes a difference.

My reading Ian is that there are / will be no perpetual / standard licenses for ACPHO - the documentation only mentions the Essential, Advanced & Premium subscription licenses (along with still showing ATI 2022 in URL references!)

RIP Acronis True Image.  It's more than "just a name change", it's basically the end of perpetual licences for those of us who just want a solid, local backup solution, with no interest in adding "security features", and who don't want to use Acronis's cloud backup product either.  I can't find any perpetual version of their "renamed" product, so looks like ATI 2021 will be the end of the road for us.  Thankfully it still seems to work fine on my laptop where I'm testing Windows 11, but at some point Microsoft will break compatibility, which will force a lot of people to look at competitors for an alternative.

Acronis reminds me of Nero.  They had a great CD/DVD burning product, but then started adding tons of unwanted and unrelated features that turned it into a slow, bloated solution that also became way too expensive for those who still only wanted a basic, solid disc burning solution.

Acronis, please consider keeping a perpetual licence product available for home users who JUST want a backup solution, with no annual fees attached, and no unrelated bloatware.

I don't want all the extras being added, just a reliable backup and recovery solution with a perpetual licence.  I think a cut-down version of the product without the 'go ffaster' stripes with a Perpetual licence should be offered.

Steve, I suspect this is so. Checked out the Australian www site and no mention of perpetual licence.

sorry to know you are disappointed with the changes! I've registered your comments in our internal system, so that the product management can review all the provided feedback. Here you can read more about the reasons behind this decision https://kb.acronis.com/content/68375

After end of 1year premium subscription, the ACPHO license can be used as perpetual license??

Since after finishing of subscription, cloud backup service will not be available, but local backups can be done??

NO! for both counts.  If a subscription license is not renewed then all functionality apart from Recovery of existing backups is lost!.

Local backups cannot be performed with an expired subscription licensed application.

See KB 69390: Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office: licensing and upgrade FAQ

What happens if I don't renew the license?

New backups creation will be blocked, both for scheduled and manually created backups.

Already created backups, stored in Acronis Cloud, will remain available for recovery for 30 days. If you don't renew during this period, backups will be deleted without possibility of restoration.

Already created backups, stored in any other destination, will remain forever, and you will be able to restore them any time later in the future.

Already created Acronis Bootable Media will continue working. It can perform recovery of previously made backups.

All product functionality, except for recovery from earlier made backups, will be restricted until the subscription is renewed.
