acronis for super secure erasing SSD's

Thread needs solution

For normal hdd's i've used the DoD 7pass which should be really good. For ssd's, what is as good as that?  I know some ssd erasure methods are not that great.  I would like a universal, manufacture-independent erasure method as good or better than the DoD 7pass.   Does acpho 2022 offer such?  What confidence can I have in it being a really very secure erase?  Or are ssd's just less guaranteed to be as securely erased?   I haven't read up yet on acronis ssd erasure methods.. so I might be asking a question that is obvious and already documented.. sorry if so.

ACPHO Drive Cleanser utility does not work with GPT drives per the user guide...!

See webpage: How to Securely Erase Your SSD Without Destroying It - which has a lot of good information on this topic.

Dear Joe,

We have successfully tested the Acronis cleanser and it removes both GPT disks and partitions. But keep in mind that we do not officially support this scenario.

Thanks Steve and Daria,  that is helpful information.   BUT, I wonder if we are talking about the same thing.  I am talking about booting to the acronis linux based boot cd and running the secure erase processes from there.  I am not talking about running acronis as an app in the OS and using the erase acronis drive cleanser from there.

I think the secure erase from the linux boot destroys all partitioning including gpt and.

With that in mind, do you have a different answer for me?

Thanks!!

Joe, the Acronis rescue media (Linux or WinPE / RE) still uses the same Acronis DriveCleanser app.

Thanks, Steve, I see that.  But when running from the linux bootable, I don't think it matters if it is gpt or mbr.  After the acronis bootable drive cleanser, there is not formatting at all neither mbr or gpt.  I am talking about wiping the ENTIRE disk.  I understand individual partitions with gpt might not be workable for erasure.  But when selecting the entire disk it should work, right?

In other words..  acronis drive cleanser DOES work with gpt disk, but NOT with gpt partitions individually isolated.

right?  I am almost certain this is the case.  :)   let me know your thoughts.

Joe, I agree with your conclusion here but it is not something I have ever tested myself though the assurance above from Daria that Acronis have successfully tested DriveCleanser for both partition schemes is good to know!
