ATI 2021: Active and cyber protection slow down the system excessively, unnecessary safety software
Since installing version 2021, I have noticed that the computer boots very slowly, half a minute longer than normal, even the shutdown takes a long time. I've been using ATI for quite a long time, but it's getting more and more overcrowded. I have not yet measured the load during operation, but a difference is also visible by eyes, e.g. opening applications.
The pitiful thing is that disabling protection in the ATI software doesn't actually disable protection. They are still started via the autostart entries. In addition, you can not disable all programs of the ATI in the Windows autostart menu, as well in the Windows services, you have to solve this with autoruns.
I only need a backup program! This is the reason that I buy the software. I do not need any additional security software. If Acronis adds additional software to the backup program, then it must be optional to install and not forced, especially when it comes to security software. I am very satisfied with the backup version 2021, a backup has never been so fast. But when I am overwhelmed with problems about the forced additional software, then it just upsets me, especially about the long problem search and their solution. Documented is from Acronis nothing about it, the protection is only strongly promoted.
I have now disabled Active Protecion and Cyber Protection with autoruns and am happy, but I hope I don't have to do this again with every update or reinstall.
SO PLEASE OFFER AGAIN A PURE BACKUP SOFTWARE, OR HAVE THE ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE INSTALLED AS OPTIONAL SOFTWARE.
Another thing: The creation of a boot medium with the iso file is cumbersome and the function unsatisfactory. It is not the selection menu at startup and the fixed language setting, but the backup speed. This takes 8-10 longer than if you generate the medium via the rescue media builder of the ATI software. I actually wanted to go this way, because then I would not have to install Acronis with the unnecessary additional software.
So now I have let out my frustration and hopefully Acronis will listen to their long time customers.
Do not waste your rare time with unwanted
Have a good evening everybody

Hi Steve,
Thank you for the feedback. I don't know where to find the tool provided in the GUI Help section. I had already looked yesterday for a way directly to Acronis, but found nothing. Do you mean maybe in my account under Support > Technical Assistant > Submit a Ticket? Could you send a link or instructions. Is the "I-213392 Allow installation without Antimalware components" an already opened ticket for this? If so how can i find, open and edit it?
Thank you
Peter

Peter, see KB 57216: Acronis True Image: Send Feedback for help with the Feedback process.
The internal change request is just that, only Acronis have access to the systems where details of such changes are kept, with no public access.

Steve,
Got it, thank you. I will send feedback to Acronis and hope to get a response. I understand that this will be handled internally and not published. However, it would be nice if I could have access to it.
Have a nice evening
Peter

Hi Peter,
Any solutions on this yet?
I am so annoyed with 5 or more Acronis processes and sub-processers wasting my Laptop's CPU power, precious Memory and SSD life and unable to terminate as you so clearly stated.
Regards
Andy

Andy, I would not hold your breath waiting on a quick response or solution from Acronis for this topic.
If you haven't done so yourself, then please submit your own feedback to ask that your vote be added to those of other users in regard to the Acronis internal change request: TI-213392 Allow installation without Antimalware components.

To me it is looking increasingly unlikely that this will be fixed in ATI 2021 - it may or may not be fixed in ATI 2022 which, if timing is the same as in prior year will be released in about 6 months - late August, with beta testing commencing in late May. I suspect they have already started work on ATI 2022, and definitely will be well into the planning/scoping stage.

@ Andy,
I am also just a user. I also think it will be a while before Acronis offers the security software as an optional installation, as Ian wrote. I must add that the ATI security software is somehow still running in the background even with the autostart files disabled via autoruns. Only with an uninstall is everything gone, and the computer runs as it should again.
I'm waiting for that in any case. In the meantime I install ATI only temporarily and then create a bootable medium of the new version. I only backup with a non-running operating system.
We have to be patient now.

Dear Acronis,
Since I am disappointed in the new corporate strategy of Acronis and do not agree with the new licensing, I have to say goodbye. As the community shows, I am not the only one who says goodbye. I do hope that Acronis will come to their senses and focus on the tried and true again. The sales figures will show Acronis how it goes in the future. The competition does not sleep and has already caught up strongly, even overtaken.
