Data Recovery

Thread needs solution

Not sure if I am in the right forum but I have Cyber Protect Home Office currently installed on this PC. This is a replacement machine and I have inadvertently formatted an HDD on it and would like to try and recover a large quantity of photo's from it. I  have used EaseUS Data Recovery to retrieve some of these files. I still have the old PC from which I made a backup using either True Image 17 or 18, cannot be sure which. I have managed to recover some old .tib files and have tried to import them into my new PC.  This has not succeeded as Cyber Protect informs me that one of the sequence of files is missing. I am able to see more files on my Synology NAS. I do not want to go to the expense of data recovery unless I can have some confidence that I will get a result.

What I need to know is assuming I can sort the .tib file issue out, can I restore to my new PC or would it have to be to the original PC with it's different HDD structure.

Tim, ACPHO should be able to recover files from .tib files created by most recent older versions of ATI so the main hurdle that you face here is the .tib files themselves.

When you say that you have managed to recover some old .tib files, does this mean that these files were on the disk that got formatted?  If so then that reduces the prospects of a successful recovery unless all files have been successfully recovered and can be validated without error.

If you have other backup files for the same source data on your Synology NAS, then that would be a better option providing again all the required files are present.

You shouldn't need to recover the files to the original drive and it should be possible to simply double-click on the .tib files in Explorer to see their content provided ATI or ACPHO is installed on the system where this is being done.

Thank you for your comment. It answers the question about whether I can use the product I have got in order to try and recover my files. As you mentioned the issue could well be the validity of the .tib files. I will see how they check out.
