Orphaned Backups how to delete

Thread solved

Hello.

I have 2 files on my backup drive that are dated September 02, 2021.

One is the initial "My Disks.tibx"/ 12KB and the other is a full backup "My Disks-0374.tibx"/721.870GB. They do not appear in the Cleanup Files window.

The current last full backup retained and showing in the Cleanup Files window is "My Disks-0464.tibx "/705.732GB dated December 12, 2021.

Please advise on what and how to delete the September items.

Thank you.

Henry, welcome to these public User Forums.

If you still have a backup task called 'My Disks' then please do not attempt to delete the 12kb file with this same name!  That small file contains essential metadata and deleting it can cause the rest of the backups to be corrupted!

The options for the "My Disks-0374.tibx"/721.870GB file would be to either just try deleting it manually in Explorer after first turning off Acronis Active Protection (which try to prevent that action), or to try doing a Validation of that individual file (right-click in Explorer and take the option from the Acronis menu option).

The further option would be to use the 'Add existing backup' option (found below the caret 'v' to the right of the normal + Add backup) and select that orphan file to be added back, then check again in the Clean up versions tool to see if it is shown and can be deleted in that way.

Thank you for your comment. Turning off Active Protection, deleting the 721Gb file and turning Active Protection back on did the trick
