Actions Pane on Acronis 12 not available to erase a USB disk.

Thread needs solution

I am trying to delete all the volumes on a 500 gig USB drive. This drive contains a Windows 10 bootable image.

I always start Disk Director as an Administrator. When I select other USB drives the Actions Pane is displayed and I can select and performed most of the available operations. However, when I select this specific USB drive the Actions pane does not show any available actions.

I finally used Windows DiskPart to clean and wipe this disk, but I am wondering why I could not do this with Disk Director. I was under the impression that has an Admin I would be able to use any actions. Does anyone know why the Actions pane is not always available.

I will probably not buy version 12.5 and instead look for a more powerful disk management tool.

Hello Christian,

thank you for your posting! Could you please add a screenshot showing the drive layout and available actions for it?

Hi. I was in a rush to fix this USB drive for a friend and do not have a screenshot of the USB drive layout.

I purchased a licence of another Partition software and it worked. I have many licences of Acronis Backup and will keep using it but I will not upgrade Disk Director.

Thanks

For your information I had 2 other USB drives containing cloned images of my Windows 10 C: drive. I tried Disk Director again and was not able to delete any volumes on these disk. With the new software I purchased I was able to do lots of operations on these disks including deletion of volumnes.

Hello Christian,

Glad to read that you have found a solution that did the job you needed to do.  Ultimately that is the most important thing, though I am sorry that you found that Acronis Disk Director was not able to do this for you.
