DD10 inactivate partition.

Thread needs solution

I want to make one of my drives inactive. I know you go disk>advanced> but then set active is greyed out presumable because it is active I had hoped you click on it then it would become inactive but that seems not to be the case. It would be handy if a person could do this with DD10.

I know it is possible to go to a MBR editor and change the first letters of the binary code to 00 from 80 this should make the partition inactive but it should or should have been incorporated into DD products.

Dave:

In DD10 you can click on the icon of the drive and choose "Edit" to open the Disk Editor. Once open, choose "As partition table" from the view menu. The active partition will have a green checkmark. Click on the checkmark to clear it and the partition will become not active. Save the sector as you exit.

It won't hurt anything to leave the partition active, BTW. If you try to boot from the disk it will attempt to boot from the active partition, but if there is no operating system on the partition then you'll just get an error message. This won't cause any harm.
