DD10 won't read GUID drives

Thread needs solution

I have a WD Mybook 3tb external drive and DD10 says it can't read it. I found out it uses GUID instead of MBR. Is there a solution to this problem? Thanks

Norman:

You could reformat the drive as an MBR disk but one of the limitations of MBR disks is a 2 TB size limit. Or you could upgrade to DD11, which does support GUID disks.

hello,
i have dd v11.0.12077 (last build) and i try to resize a gpt disk; but when i apply, i have this message:
error: code 00360198 441e730962703f63
i have a support by mail from acronis:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Volume operations like resize, merge, moving and other operations are not supported on GPT disks. Only disk operations like disk conversion is supported on GPT disks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
right?
what can i do? convert to mbr and convert to dynamic and resize? no risk?
thanks

In my reply to Norman, above, I was going by the data sheet for DD11. The response that you quoted from Acronis Support indicates that there is very little that DD11 can do with GPT disks. Can you do the resize operation with native Windows tools? For example, Windows 7 says that its Diskpart and Disk Management tools support GPT disks: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/gg463524.aspx and http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/gg463525.aspx

I just bought dd11_ver_2343 and it says it doesn't support guid. I found that if you convert to an mbr and go with the 2gb limit and try to use TI Recovery media it doesn't work.

Norman:

Please elaborate on what you mean by "...and try to use TI Recovery media it doesn't work". What happens?

Do native Windows 7 tools allow you to format and use the disk correctly?

Norman and hervé:

ok but it's not the same case;
i use DD11 advanced server with a windows 2008 r2; i have 4 disks 600go raid5.
