DD11 / OSS - shutdown does not work from OSS main screen [Case 00987583]

Thread needs solution

i'm using ADD / OSS 11.0.2121

on the main OSS screen there's a toolbar button on the top right corner to "shutdown" the system.

when i click on it it does not shut down. instead it will reboot.

and some more weird stuff:

  • i power on my PC
  • OSS main screen shows up
  • i click on shutdown
  • the PC will reboot (<= this is wrong)
  • OSS main screen shows up again
  • i click on shutdown again
  • this time the screen goes black. a blinking cursor. and the pc speaker doing an endless beep. i need to press the PC's power button for 4 seconds to get ouf that state. (<= this is real bad)

cheers, philipp

i have followed some instructions by customer support to "repair" the OSS.

when i now boot via acronis OSS boot manager and select "help => about" in the OSS main menu it shows the following version information: 11.0.3034

the symptom is still the same: instead of doing a "shutdown" it will do a "reboot".

Most probably the shut down command isn't being sent properly or processed properly on the computer. This could be because of the BIOS, for example.

You can safely manually shut down the computer while at the OSS menu.

Do you know what board is in the computer (brand, model, chipset, BIOS revision, etc.)?

motherboard:

   manufacturer: FUJITSU D2912-A1

chipset: iQ57 (Intel Ibex Peak Q57, Intel Ironlake)

   bios: Phoenix 6.00 R1.20.2912.A1

in total i have observed various issues when it comes to invoking a "shutdown" from the different acronis components at boot time.
i'm attaching a complete summary - just in case somebody else is interested ...
