No Configuration File Present /
Since today I am not able to start any of my OS. I have 2 XP and one Windows 7 on my PC using OS Selector. Iam using Disk Diretor only for this purpose. This has worked well until today. Now, at start I get the message 'No Configuration File Present'. After pressing Enter, the same message appears.
I have tried to start from the boot CD (I have the iso file downloaded), but there is another error: 'Cannot load initiall RAM Disc. Cannot load linux kernel. Press enter to restart.
Can anyone help to get the OS selector running again?
Thanks in advance
Siegfried

I am using DD11 and I have downloaded the latest version. But I am nut sure whether I have this version installed or not.
No, I am not sure whether the CD contains the OSS? With my login I have only one version of iso file got offered. How can I check if this is a version containing the OSS?
Last boot was windows 7, had problems earlier after using windows 7. Sometime I did not get the OSS selection menu, but always windows 7 started. I was always able to fix this issue by calling OSS from windows 7.

Thanks for your suggestions, there was something wrong with my boot CD. I have downloaded again and now I got the menu and it works again now. But I wonder why do I sometimes have problems after working with the windows 7 partition.

I had this issue too, with Win7. For me it turned out to be some Windows Task or Service that has the bad habit to delete "unused" links sometimes. I found the culprit and could deactivate it. Unfortunately I don't remember the task/service. I would need to know myself, cause I want to set up another Win7 maschine. <
I did a bit of search again and I found this article in the MS-knowledgebase: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978980/en-gb?p=1
While this article refers to unused shortcuts on the desktop, it may be that the Computer Maintenance deletes "unused" shortcuts in the root-partition as well.
There is a shortcut in the root partition (called "Acronis OS Selector") pointing to the OOS selector. Now my theory: that shortcut would not make any sense for a normal user, i.e. it would be unused. So after a while MS would delete it. OOS is looking for that shortcut. Missing it leads to or problem. At least: when I check my settings as mentioned in the above article, I find my Computer Maintenance indeed disabled (as a result from my previous success I guess). And I haven't had that missing config-file problem for quite a while now. But it could be conincidence.
So all this is just a wild guess of mine. May be someone can confirm?
