OS Selector - Disable Auto Detection of New OS

Thread needs solution

Please help me, I want to disable the detection of new operating systems because every time I connect a pen drive it detects an unknown new OS, then I have to keep deleting ...
I have a pen drive with the Kurumin NG and the entry is already in the menu and even then it detects a new OS. With pen drives clean is the same.

Thanks

What build of OSS are you using?

As far as I know, the auto-detection feature of OSS can't be turned off. In some case (such as yours), it keeps detecting a "new" OS. This seems to happen more with Linux-based operating systems than Windows.

For auto-detected entries that don't repeat, try hiding the entry instead of deleting it. This will remove it from the main OSS menu, but leave it in the OS list. OSS shouldn't redetect it.

If a "clean" flashdrive is being detected as having an OS on it, it may not really be clean. Have you tried to zero-out (completely wipe) the flashdrive (using Linux) or doing a "clean" on it with DISKPART in Vista or Windows 7?

I'm using DD v10.0.2161 and I had a quad boot XP, XP, 7 and Kurumin NG.
I had tried to hide the entries but the OSS continued to detect them, as well as the Kurumin NG, which is already on the menu. I'll clean the other pen drives, maybe not clean.
It is then the suggestion to Acronis allow the disabling of auto detection in newer versions of OSS.

Thanxx man

Hello Altyer and MudCrab,

I completely agree with MudCrab's recommendations. A have also forwarded Altyer's suggestion to our Development Team, so probably, this feature will be implemented in the next version of Acronis OS Selector.

Thank you.

That was just under four years ago, nothing has changed ;). I'm not sure where this product would be without MudCrab (in the bin I suspect!). Thankyou Mudcrab!
