OSS Issue after upgrading Video Drivers

Thread needs solution

HI,

I upgraded my video driver to the latest version and at that point OSS looks like it has a problem. (See attached image)

You can see it has an MBR Error where OSS would normally display.

I would have thought that a video driver upgrade would not have caused such an issue.

Any suggestions?

Nvidia 7600GT is my video card and the driver version is 258.96 (64Bit)

It probably wasn't the video driver. Windows probably moved an OSS file. You should be able to reactivate OSS. You don't say, but normally you can still get into Windows okay with that error.

Also, see this KB article.

Hi Mudcrab,

OK so the drive was defragmented but IMHO the fact that the file was moved by defragmentation should be picked up by OSS and handled better than that - yes I can fix it but what about the less able!

There are hooks OSS can use to monitor those files or perhaps they should just be marked as system unmovable.

There are solutions that need to be implemented IMHO
