OSS - Ubuntu 9.10 - ext4 - Grub 2 -

Thread needs solution

Hi there,

some problems using OSS on my system.
1st HD installed XP1 and XP2 -> no problems with OSS switching between them. Works fine.
Then installing Ubuntu in another partition after XP1 and XP2,
using ext4 filesystem, Grub 2 (not Grub!) - installed on /dev/sda5, not in the MBR.
OSS doesn't recognise the new operating system / i can't boot Ubuntu (but XP1 and XP2.
What to do (-> using ext3?)?

Sincerely

Hello LinuxFan9,

Please accept our profound apologies for the delay with the response.

To have on the same machine both Acronis OS Selector and GRUB or LILO, you will need to follow the instructions described below.

  1. Boot in Linux;
  2. Set the Linux root (/) partition or /boot partition (in case you have a separate /boot partition) Primary and Active. See Instructions how to make the primary partition active using fdisk;
  3. In Linux install GRUB on this partition:

    #/sbin/grub-install /dev/boot_partition

  4. Boot into Windows and re-activate Acronis OS Selector.

Thank you.
