OSS won't boot xp partition after recovery

What version and build of DD are you using?

What version and build of TI are you using?

Are the XP installations configured so they each boot from their own partitions? Or were they both booting from one?

Does your recent full image contain both XP partitions (the entire drive)?

The repair install of XP could have messed things up further depending on how it was done.

If you attach a copy of the BOOTWIZ.OSS file and a screenshot of what DD shows for the drive I'll take a look at them and see if anything looks wrong.

I was doing this under XP and have been using TI10 build 2.241
and DD10 build 4.942.

The "problem partition" J: is a clone of C:.

They have been booted from their own partition.
C: is still working, actually I'm using it right now,
as I have physically taken off the Win 7 Harddisk.

My backup of July 23 is an image of the whole disk.

I have enclosed bootwiz_aug8.oss and for comparison
also bootwiz_jul21.oss which is the one in the backup,
both from C:

When you restored the XP partition did you select to have it restored as Active?

Also, did you do the restore using the TI CD or did you do it using TI in Windows?

I've attached a modified BOOTWIZ.OSS file to try.

I restored it from the other xp partition. Don't actually recall if I restored it as active.

After reading the TI manual again, there may be another issue. After the backup I upgraded my processor, which could cause
problems, if I read this correctly.

I am also running TI 11 on my W7 and would be prepared to get universal restore if that helps.
I am also prepared to make a restore of the complete disk image to solve the issue.

A last question, could the modified bootwiz.oss file damage my working xp?

Got myself universal restore and a new harddisk (will be used for backups later)
did a full restore with TI 11 Plus to the new harddisk and I am presently virusscanning
the restored XP partitions. Will keep you posted.

Do you mean TI 11 or TI 2011? TI 11 is not compatible with Windows 7.

Changing the CPU shouldn't affect restoring or booting. It may cause an issue in Windows, but I doubt it would be serious if it did.

Restoring the Entire Disk Image is an option, though ultimately I'm sure you'd like to be able to restore individual OS partitions.

Using the modified file won't cause any problems with the working XP. I just manually added the other XP menu entry -- it will either work or not. If not, it's probably because something's not right on the partition. If OSS doesn't like the changes it will just reject them.

I generally recommend restoring multi-OS partitions from the CD instead of from Windows. TI usually wants to "correct" things and doesn't always do this correctly in multi-boot setups. If the partition is configured for independent booting, I recommend restoring it as Active so TI doesn't try to make it boot through the currently active partition or otherwise incorrectly adjust things.

have been away for 5 days on a bike tour. Your bootwiz.oss worked.
I came to the conclusion to separately backup partition by partition, when it is active.
A full harddisk backup will do for a full harddisk restore.

To recover your lost or missing data from the partition hard drive use the partition recovery software.
