PC Continuously Restarts After OS Selection

Thread needs solution

Installed DD2K11 along with OSS on a PC running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Windows is installed on a 1TB drive onto a 500GB partition (primary/active) and is using the usual C:. The hidden Windows 7 boot files are on this partition. The computer boots into the OSS but when Windows 7 is selected, the computer restarts (no Windows logo, just a black screen then a restart. I have to fixmbr from the Windows 7 CD to get Windows to boot again which of course wipes out OSS.

Funny thing is that I had the exact same problem trying to get the computer to dual boot Windows and Ubuntu. When GRUB would try to load Windows, bingo! The computer restarts. I tried for a while to figure it out, did a ton of research and finally decided to BUY DD thinking it would save me all the hassle...

So, anyone have a clue why this is happening?

Thanks,

Schyler

Try disabling CD-ROM support in OSS and see if it makes a difference.

Do all the BIOS settings look normal?

Is there a BIOS update available? You might check the release notes and see if this type of problem is mentioned.
