Size Limit Issue

Thread needs solution

Hi

I have two 60Gb disks mirrored on at the BIOS Level on my IBM X Series server running Windows 2003 Server.

The 60Gb mirror is split into two, C drive is 7Gb whilst the D Drive is 53Gb. I would like to increase the C Drive by 10Gb by nicking it from the D Drive.

When I run DD10 and use the wizard to resize the C drive partition I get the following error message

Acronis Disk Director Server was not able to increase the free space on selected partition. The current size of the selected partition is the maximum possible.

With regards to free space available on the two partitions.
C has 200mb whilst the D drive has 20Gb.

Can anyone comment on why Im receiving this error?

David:

You get the error because the partition is almost full and there is no unallocated space adjacent to the partition to expand into. You should first resize the D: partition, making it smaller by 10 GB:

1. Right-click on the D partition and choose "Resize"
2. Drag the left border of the partition to the right, leaving unallocated space at the beginning of the partition.
3. Commit this operation. If there is a lot of data on the D partition to move, this operation may take a while to complete
4. Next, right-click on the C partition and choose "Resize"
5. Drag the right border of the partition to the right, incorporating all of the unallocated space within the partition
6. Commit this operation

If this disk contains the operating system then you should do the above operations from the boot CD when Windows is not running. If it's a data disk then you should be OK doing it while Windows is up and running.

Hope this helps...
