Windows 7 Partition Error

Thread needs solution

I need help with Disk Director 11.

I've done a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and downloaded updates. I then resized the partition to 100 GB. I had read that I should use "Clone basic disk" to copy it to a different drive. I want to make a backup on a 250 GB drive. However "as is" is greyed out and I don't want the partitions to be resized. I want to use the remaining space to copy the partition once more at a later stage.

Instead I copied the "System Reserved" and "Main" partitions individually. Except when I check if the backup is bootable I get an "MBR Error 1" message.

Hello TheSKARD1,

thank you for your posting!

There is a following note in user guide:

Important: When you copy the system volume, the active volume, or a boot volume, you might not be able to boot the machine from the new volume. Bootability will be preserved when you move such volume (p. 32) or clone the disk (p. 47) containing it.

This is because after you copy only partitions the MBR is lost.

In your case manual Windows Boot Loader restore should help.

If you need any further assistance please contact our support team.

Thank you.
