Windows7 upgrade partition layout
I had been running Windows Vista in a partition and wanted to upgrade to Windows7 while keeping Windows Vista separately. So I deactivated and deinstalled OS Selector, copied the Windows Vista partition to a separate partition, hid the original Windows Vista partition, made sure I could boot into the copied partition by setting that partition Active and rebooting, and then upgraded the copied partition.
Everything worked properly and I can boot into Windows 7 where the copied partition exists.
When I look at DD11 under Windows 7 it shows me that the copied partiton is (Active,System,Boot).
But it also shows me that the original Windows Vista partition, even though completely hidden, is (System,Boot).
What does this mean ? Does this mean that Windows 7 has also used the original Windows Vista partition to install bootable files even though it was completely hidden when I upgraded the copied partition to Windows 7 ?
