Problem connection from Management Console to SQL Server

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

Good day to you. I'm still in the middle of performing various testing on the current product which I've registered as Trial to backup my I.T. Infrastructure. I'm glad that Acronis provides such simple and yet easy-to-use solutions. I guess it will our choice of product soon.

Trial Software Downloaded & Installed:
- Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Version (build: 12708)
- Acronis Recovery for MS SQL Server (build: 212)

Scenario:
- Server A - Centralized Management Console - Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 x64
- Server B - File & SQL Server - Windows Server 2003 R2 x86 SP2
MS SQL Express 2005

Thus, I faced problem with Acronis Recovery for MS SQL Server initially which I'll list down below:
1. Remote installation of SQL Agent
After I've installed Acronis Recovery for MS SQL Server and I've got this simple clean
management console which I found it great. Not long after that, I did a search on my network to
find all MS SQL Server (around 6 to 10 servers) and I was amazed. I had a server ready to test
on my network and I went straight to remote install SQL Agent but I've failed, which forced me to
copy .msi file to install on the server itself. I was suspecting whether it's the caused that I've
installed Backup & Recovery 10 Agents that 'caused that?

2. Unable to connect to Server B from Server A
After I've installed SQL Server Agent onto Server B. I went back to Server A and perform "Connect
to server..." but I've got the error message as listed below:
E007A0001: Unable to connect to computer ""
Try perform the following actions: - Provide credentials that are appropriate to the computer you
want to connect to; - Check whether Acronis Recovery for MS SQL Server Agent is installed on the
remote computer.
I'm sure that I got the administrative password correct and I've did a manual installation of SQL
Agent on Server B. I've tried "clearing credentials box checked" still doesn't help. Would
appreciate if anyone can help out on this.

3. Unable to RUN ACRONIS Recovery for Microsoft SQL Server via Backup & Recovery 10 Management
Console.
I wasn't able to click on Run Acronis Recovery for Microsoft SQL Server via Backup & Recovery 10
management console. I'm sure that I've installed Acronis Recovery for MS SQL and I have a
proper individual management console located on my server desktop.

Would appreciate if anyone can help me on this as I only have 12 days left of trial period. Your earliest reply will be very much appreciated.

Did you find any solution on this issue?

I have the exact same problem on a new, fully licensed installation of Acronis.

Found the resolution to this issue....

On the server with Acronis Recovery for MS SQL Server Management Console installed, you need to create a new Inbound Rule in the Windows Firewall. Go to Administrative Tools, Windows Firewall with Advanced Security, Inbound Rules. Click New Rule, leave "Program" radio button selected and click Next, click Browse and browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\RecoveryMSSQLServerConsole. Select DatabaseBackupConsole then click on Open. Click Next. Leave the "Allow the connection" radio button selected and click Next. In my case, I only left Domain selected and clicked Next. Name the rule whatever works for you. I named mine Acronis Recovery for MS SQL Management Console.

Hope this works for anyone else facing this issue.
