Cannot open volume for direct access

Thread needs solution

Hello

We have just upgraded to OS Deployer v4 and we are deploying an image to a HP 5740e running Windows 7. These images were deployable successfully using version 3 we have even created a new image using V4 and the result is still the same.

I start the machine and can successfully boot in the agent. I see the machine in the console and can successfully start a deployment task. The machine starts to image. Once imaged it reboots and starts regenerating the SID, it then works its way through the registry, it then says C:\ needs a disk check and that fails, it says Cannot open volume for direct access and reboots.

When the PC reboots it either blue screens with unable to access c:\windows\system32.

I have tried not regenerating the SID’s I have also tried use master image in disk partitioning. I have also tried deploying only the data partition using universal deploy then both data partitions using universal and still it errors.

Can you please advise on next course of action? Is there a way to disable whatever it is doing in the registry and just change the SID?

Hello Mattew,

sorry for the delayed answer.

First of all please check if the target disk is not damaged and has no bad blocks.

In addition I've sent you a download link to a newer build 584. Please check if the issue is reproducible.

Thank you.
