eSATA image creation but not image restoration

Thread needs solution

Just thought I would start an official thread on this one. It is not a huge deal but is inconvenient.

I can run Master Image Creator using an external eSATA drive and it is very fast.

However, when I attempt to deploy an image using the Stand Alone mode and eSATA, the drive is simply not found although the BIOS sees it just fine. I can switch to USB 2 mode and that works, but is slower.

So, it seems that the Stand Alone program is different than the Master Image Creator in that it is missing eSATA support.... unless I am missing something.

Hello Eric,

Thank you for finding time to open the thread and report about the issue, I will be glad to help you!

This is actually a lack of drivers on the bootable media you're using. They should be present, and the process should run without any problems. As a workaround I would advise you to download the latest updated media from your account (it will be in *.iso format) and burn it onto the CD. After that please check, whether the issue remains.

Should the problem be present, please gather Acronis Linux Report and send it to us directly. This information will help us to find the cause of the problem, and an appropriate solution for it.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

I'm on the trial copy still. I will re-download the 3.0_d_en package and see what I get there.

Nothing new in the trial. Is it possible to get an updated driver disc iso from you?

Same problem exists on CD or USB boot at the moment.

Dear Eric,

Thank you for keeping us posted.

Sure thing I will send you the link to the updated bootable media via Private message in a minute.

Should the issue remain, please gather the Acronis Linux Report and send it to us directly. This information will help us to find the cause of the problem, and an appropriate solution for it.

Let me know if you have any concerns or questions, I will be glad to help.

Thank you!

Hi Yana,
I downloaded the ISO and made a new CD. Still no eSATA option. There must be more to it than the drivers. On the same disc, if I choose to create an image, it works. It is only when I choose the third option, Standalone Utility, that eSATA drives don't show up.

Hello, Eric.
Thank you for interest to Acronis Snap Deploy 4. Acronis Standalone Utility can deploy images located:
- in network shared folders
- on USB and FireWire (IEEE-1394) storage devices (hard drives, flash drives) attached to the managed computer
- on DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, CD-R/RW loaded in the managed computer media drive.

Thus, I assume eSATA is detected by our linux-based media as a fixed drive (not a removable media), and as a result this drive is not shown in the list of available storages.

Hello, Eric.
We've created a ticket in our internal tracking system (case #112967), it will be considered in the next version of ASD we are working on at the moment.

Hi,

I am having the same issue. Just wanted to get back and find out if the eSata issue was fixed. i.e. Can we now deploy using eSata drives? We downloaded the latest acronis software but are due testing it.

Is the process of adding eSata as one of the external drive in progress? should we be expecting any changes in the future? Getting this fixed would really help us in our deployment process.

Thank you.
